2024

Proposal to Sponsor, Partner and/or support the Corruption Prevention Network Ltd (NSW)

INTRODUCTION:

Who we are

The Corruption Prevention Network of NSW  Ltd (CPN) came into being in 1994 when practitioners together with officers from the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) and Audit Office began meeting to consider how best to address systemic issues repeatedly exposed in internal and external investigations.

Since that time, we have evolved into what we are today, a limited company operating through an organising committee of elected directors and member volunteers.

What We do

The Corruption Prevention Network (CPN) primary purpose is to support anti-fraud and corruption practitioners throughout the state of NSW, to better understand the current issues and techniques in today’s market place and bridge the gap between public and private sectors by highlighting risks that span both industries.

The CPN’s strength is in its membership. We welcome participation and we interact with practitioners across all areas of business and with members in a number of ways, but all for the same purpose, to raise awareness in skill, capability and to inform on current and emerging fraud and corruption risks.

Opportunities & Benefits

  • Subscription to our Membership events and programs:
    • Attendance to our face to face seminars and discussion groups
    • Access to many research documents and material
    • Regular communications between members and practitioners
    • Invitation to participate in our annual CPN forum by providing speakers, literature materials to our members and attendees.

It will also allow the CPN to reach a wider audience in promoting its awareness programs

CPN Strategy for Corporate Citizenship: Building a Resilient Anti-Corruption Network

The CPN strategy for corporate citizenship is to build a resilient anti-corruption network involving a comprehensive approach that integrates ethical principles into the core of our organisation. The CPN encourages Corporate entities to consider and adopt these step-by-step guidelines:

  1. Commitment from Leadership: Lead by Example
    • Ensure that top leadership is committed to fostering a culture of corporate citizenship and anti-corruption.
    • Communicate a clear and unequivocal commitment to ethical business practices from the highest levels to all levels of operation.
  2. Ethics Training and Awareness: Partnerships
    • Implement regular training programs for employees at all levels to raise awareness about the consequences of corruption and the importance of ethical behaviour.
    • Foster a sense of responsibility and accountability among employees through interactive training sessions.
  3. Code of Conduct and Policies: Review
    • Develop a robust code of conduct that explicitly outlines the organisation’s stance against corruption.
    • Implement clear policies and procedures for reporting and addressing unethical behaviour, with protection mechanisms for whistle-blowers.
  4. Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Explore and identify areas
    • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential areas of vulnerability to corruption. Review audit reports and action recommendations.
    • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies, including enhanced due diligence in high-risk areas.
  5. Technological Solutions: Pursue
    • Leverage technology, such as AI and data analytics, to monitor and detect irregularities in financial transactions and across all operations areas.
    • Implement secure reporting channels and platforms that facilitate anonymous reporting of corruption concerns, either internally or through a third party.
  6. Partnerships and Collaboration: Explore and Pursue
    • Collaborate with industry associations, government agencies, and NGOs to share best practices and stay informed about emerging trends in anti-corruption efforts. (CPN, Centre for Public Integrity, Ethics Centre).
    • Actively engage with stakeholders and like-minded groups to build a network that collectively works towards preventing corruption.
  7. Third-Party Due Diligence: Review
    • Implement rigorous due diligence processes for selecting and monitoring third-party vendors, suppliers, and business partners.
    • Ensure that third parties adhere to the same ethical standards and anti-corruption policies as the organisation such as including in contracts.
  8. Performance Measurement and Reporting: Monitor Self progress
    • Establish robust key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of the anti-corruption program.
    • Regularly report on progress and achievements in preventing corruption to internal and external stakeholders.
  9. Continuous Improvement:
    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by regularly reviewing and updating anti-corruption policies and procedures.
    • Solicit feedback from employees and stakeholders to identify areas for improvement and innovation.
  10. Transparency and Communication:
    • Communicate transparently with stakeholders about the organisation’s commitment to anti-corruption efforts.
    • Share success stories, lessons learned, and challenges faced in building a resilient anti-corruption network.

Tailoring the sponsorship or assistance levels to meet the interests and capabilities of potential partners can help foster meaningful and mutually beneficial collaborations within the Corruption Prevention Network.

A range of sponsorship or assistance levels have been tailored to the different events within the Corruption Prevention Network, which you can choose as a partner and ensure meaningful engagement and support throughout the year for and from the CPN.

Potential levels of sponsorship or assistance on a yearly basis, along with involvement in the Corruption Prevention Network’s “think tank” or “council” of ideas are set out below:

Our events include Annual CPN Forum in September, Monthly Seminar Series, Breakfast or After-hours networking event, and Bimonthly Hot Topic discussion group sessions

 CPN FORUM

We are very proud of our yearly forum and like to think it is a one-day cost effective event that delivers value for money. We try to cater for all levels of experience, with presentations ranging from the latest prevention, detection and response techniques together with some of the more prevalent risks and issues within the market place today. It will also provide you with different perspectives and insights to make you more effective in the preventive work that you do.

 The Future

We have recently expanded our offering to members by providing video conferencing capability to our monthly seminars and intend to include our annual forum subject to funding. That way we can reach a far greater audience outside of Sydney which has been a popular request of our subscribership in the past.

How-ever this capability is expensive and consequently we started with a much- reduced service, being just for the seminars, so assistance is required in this area to schedule the Forum.

Funding

The CPN converts all profit made at our annual forum and its sponsorships back into its work into supporting members with better resources and tools to prevent corruption. By supporting us, you help us to better service the community in preventing corruption.
